FAQs

We feel that it is very important for you to know what a wedding photographer can offer to make your wedding day memories all that you are expecting. The following are some frequently asked questions, and YJM Photography's response to them.

Q: How would you describe your style?
A: We blend spontaneous and creative candid coverage with traditional wedding photography. Our goal is to be unobtrusive, yet capture all the precious moments of your wedding day for you to cherish for a lifetime. Whereas a portrait-oriented wedding photographer will concentrate almost exclusively on formal poses, we quickly arrange and photograph these shots (bridal party and families) in about 30-45 minutes. While we do feel that it is important to not ignore traditional formal photography (normally photographed in color), it is not our primary focus. Our style and emphasis is to capture important events as they happen, using primarily black and white film, which we feel is more timeless and elegant. This allows the bride and groom to enjoy their day with minimal interruptions. Once you have received your completed album, the end result is a form of storytelling in pictures rather than a series of posed and unnatural photographs.

Q: How far in advance are you reserved?
A: Certain times of the year book faster than others (especially in the summer months). Customarily we suggest booking between six months to a year in advance.

Q:Are there time limits to how long you will stay?
A: Being that we are documenting your wedding day, it is very hard to give a specific time limit. We often accompany the bride to the hair salon in the morning, followed by the events of the day, and finish working toward the end of he reception. We tell clients that when we are hired to photograph their wedding, we are dedicating the entire day to them and their guests.

Q: If requested, do you offer a more traditional and formal style of photography?
A: Occasionally couples do request more extensive formal coverage. This does require additonal time for travel to specific sites and to setup formal poses. Therefore, couples requesting this service need to factor additional time in their wedding day schedule.

Q: Are there limits on how many images that you photograph?
A: There are many variables that determine the number of photos that we take. Typically we shoot between 800-1200 images, leaving you with a proof book of approximately 400 images.

Q: What kind of equipment will be used?
A: We are a digital studio. The digital camera lends itself to working fast in all situations, and using zoom lenses allows us to get those special close-up shots and details while maintaining our distance. At the reception, we like to use room lights (flashes and/or strobes) triggered by wireless slave units.

Q: Do you carry back-up equipment?
A: Every piece of equipment has at least two back-ups.

Q: Are the digital files for sale?
A: Digital files are for sale 30 days after the pick-up of your album at the price determined by the studio at the time of purchase. Being able to purchase your negetives can save you hundreds of even thousands of dollars on reprints and enlargements.

Q: How soon will the proofs be ready for pick-up?
A: Proofs are ready for pick-up between three and four weeks after the date of your wedding.

Q: How soon will our album be ready for pick-up?
A: Once the proofs have been returned back to YJM Photography, the album will be completed in four to six weeks.
